Baseball Game in Central Park, New York City

On one of my trips to New York, back in 2009, I was walking through Central Park on a beautiful sunny day, and wandered across a baseball game. I had never seen a baseball game in real life before and was chuffed to see this, it is such an icon of Americana, and this only being my second trip to the country.

I didn’t stay for the whole game (I think there's actually two games going on here), not having a clue as to what was actually happening, but I did watch for a good 20 minutes or so. I also took the time to get some photos of the event. I wasn’t trying to be a sports shooter for a few minutes or anything so elaborate, I just wanted to capture it for my own prosperity.

Fast forward to today, and being stuck at home thanks to the coronavirus lockdown, I’ve been going through my archives and I came across this sequence. I only ever published a couple of images from this before, and so I wanted to create a little photo essay or collage of the game. I re0edited the original raw files, and culled the best ones to produce this little photo essay. A memory from May 2009 in a beautiful sunny New York in happier times.

Also, it’s outside. Remember that?
