Memories of New York
Being cooped up at home for over a month now, like many people I’ve resorted to going back over old photos and projects as something to do while we can’t go out and shoot. I was going through my archive and something made me start looking at some old New York photos. I have a lot of fond memories of visiting the city and so, I decided to put together a little trip down memory lane, with a little virtual exhibit.
I first traveled to the city back in 2005. It was particularly memorable for me as it was my first big trip away with the person who would later become my wife. It was also my first trip to that side of the Atlantic. I loved every minute of it, and travelled back many times in the years since. I actually have a lot more photos from my various trips over the years, but with this small selection of those, I went back to some of my earliest ones. I also found the RAW files and decided to re-process them. My technique and discipline has come a long way since then, as has my photographic skill, but I’m still pretty happy with these, and they help provide a strong memory and emotional link to those happy times.
I also can’t help but think about all the people in New York city right now dealing with the difficult times we’re living in. I have several acquaintances there and they have shared stories of the lockdown and struggles some people are facing, and my heart goes out to all of them, and any of you who may be in New York right now (and everywhere really).
Cameras used in this were mostly the Original Canon 5D and a few Nikon D90
